Share your journey as an Allied healthcare recruiter and what motivates you in your role.
I stumbled into recruitment by accident, but it was the best detour ever! What motivates me the most is knowing that I am not just filling a role—I am connecting healthcare heroes with the opportunities that allow them to save lives and make a difference every day. I am also motivated by knowing I am helping talented professionals find fulfilling careers while supporting healthcare organizations in delivering excellent patient care. It is like being a matchmaker but for life-saving jobs!
What unique skills and experiences do you bring to your role as an allied healthcare recruiter?
I have a knack for listening to candidates and clients, which helps me find the perfect fit for both sides. Essentially, I bring a great mix of organization, quick thinking, resilience, and communication skills, which allows me to make the process smooth and enjoyable, from initial outreach to final placement. Being able to juggle multiple tasks is also an essential skill in recruitment.
What does a typical day look like for you as an allied healthcare recruiter?
A typical day? It is never the same! One moment, I am screening resumes, the next I am on the phone with a candidate discussing their career dreams. In between, I am coordinating interviews, checking in with clients, and brainstorming ways to bring in top talent. It’s a whirlwind, but at the end of the day, it’s about celebrating the small wins—like setting up that perfect interview.
Which specific roles or specialties do you primarily focus on as an allied healthcare recruiter?
I primarily focus on allied healthcare roles, including all kinds of therapists, techs, and nurses, but I also have a soft spot for working those hard-to-fill nursing positions. The healthcare world is vast, and I’m always excited to explore new specialties and connect with professionals.
How do you ensure a strong match between candidates and the organizations they join?
It all starts with really understanding the organization’s culture and needs and pairing that with candidates whose skills and personalities align. As an allied healthcare recruiter, I don’t just look at resumes—I look at the bigger picture, like career goals and whether the candidate is a “people person” or more of a “quiet achiever.” It’s about finding that balance where both the candidate and the employer can thrive.
What tips do you have for candidates looking to make their applications stand out?
Tailor all your applications to the role you are applying to and make sure they’re easy to read. A clean, concise resume with a strong personal touch is always a winner. Also, since we are all digital now, it is important for candidates to create an online presence that shines. A LinkedIn profile goes a long way.
As an Allied healthcare Recruiter, how would you advise candidates to prepare for interviews in the healthcare industry?
Do your homework! Research the organization and the role and think about how your experience can contribute to their goals. Practice talking about your skills confidently, stay calm, and remember that they already think you are qualified for the job—that is why they invited you for the interview. All you need to do is impress them with your personality and your passion for helping others. And remember, interviews are a two-way street—ask questions to make sure it is the right fit for you, too!
What do you enjoy most about working as an allied healthcare recruiter?
The best part? Hearing the excitement in a candidate’s voice when they land the job! I love being part of that journey, and it’s so rewarding to know I am positively impacting both the individual and the healthcare community. Plus, the ability to work remotely means I get to meet different and amazing people every day—what’s not to love?
